Attendance at Ralston Valley High School
Attendance line: 303-982-5550
Ralston Valley High School’s attendance line is 303-982-5550, and is available to leave messages 24/7.
For pre-planned absences of 1 day or more, please use the Pre-Arranged Absence Form.
To excuse other absences and for early releases, please refer to Options 1, 2 and 3 for relevant instructions.
Jeffco district policy requires that all attendance calls must be made within 24 hours of the absence for it to be excused (per District Regulations JH-R).
Option 1: Early Release During a Class
This is the option to leave a message on the attendance line at 303-982-5550 if your student will be in a classroom when they need to be dismissed. If leaving during passing periods, lunch or off-blocks, your student will not need a dismissal pass.
Please leave early release calls at least 30 minutes prior to the release time in order for us to get your student out in time.
If the student does return to school, please have them check in at the attendance office upon return so we may update their attendance.
When calling, please leave the following information:
- Student’s name (spell the last name) and grade
- Name of parent or guardian making the call
- Date, dismissal time and whether or not the student will return
- Reason for the early dismissal (doctor, dentist, etc.)
Unless otherwise requested, your student can meet you outside.
Option 2: All Other Attendance Calls
This is the option to be used when excusing all other absences, including full-block absences, full-day absences and tardies.
Call the attendance line at 303-982-5550 and please leave the following information:
- Student’s name (spell the last name) and grade
- Name of parent or guardian making the call
- Date and time frame of the absence (full day, one-half day, single block, tardies)
- Reason for the absence or tardy
Single-block absences require a provider’s note if the student is attending an appointment. Students can drop the note off at the attendance office or it can be emailed to: michelle.hanson@jeffco.k12.co.us
Option 3 - Campus Absence Request
Families can use Infinite Campus to report same-day or upcoming absences with ease. Instructions for using this can be found in the link below.
** Please leave attendance requests at least 30 minutes prior to the absence request time in order for us to get your student out in time.
Learn about the Campus Parent Absence request tool. This can be used for Full Day Absence, Late arrivals, and Early dismissals.
We encourage you to use this new system for the 2024-25 school year, however you can continue to use the old system if you prefer.
ALL single block absences, tardies, and early releases for appointments will require a provider’s note. Students can drop the note off at the Attendance office or it can be emailed to: michelle.hanson@jeffco.k12.co.us
Attendance Information
Attendance in Jeffco
The importance of regular, daily school attendance as a basis for academic achievement cannot be overemphasized. Attendance is a shared responsibility of the student, the families and the school.
It is the family’s responsibility to ensure their student attends school and to notify the school when their student is absent for a legitimate reason, such as an illness or family emergency. Each family should also ensure their student’s school has their correct contact information so that the school is able to communicate about any attendance issues that may arise.
Truancy
A student is considered truant if there are four unexcused absences in one month or 10 unexcused absences in a year. Jeffco identifies what constitutes an excused or unexcused absences in the district’s code of conduct, tardies, and students who take vacations during the school year.
Tardies
The same attendance rules apply to tardies. Please check teachers’ syllabi for additional guidelines (if applicable).
