Most postsecondary institutions require students' official transcripts as part of the application process. Below are the steps to request your official transcript from the Counseling Office. 

If you need a transcript for other reasons, unofficial transcripts usually suffice. Unofficial transcripts can be downloaded from Infinite Campus at any time by students and parents. In Campus, select Documents > Unofficial Transcript.

Sending official transcripts to postsecondary institutions

For current RV students, sending transcripts requires three steps to be completed in this order:

Step 1: In Naviance, add the institution to Colleges I’m Applying To

• If you’re applying via the Common App, your accounts must be matched
• How to link your Common Application with Naviance

Step 2: Fill out a blue form in the counseling office

• You can fill out one form with all of your schools and submit additional forms as needed
• Once you have filled it out completely, place it in the silver bin on Ms. Shaffer's desk

***It may take up to 10 school days to process your form, so please keep that in mind with your application deadlines

Step 3: Pay transcript fees in your school account

• Transcripts for college or NCAA or NAIA cost $3 each, but are free for scholarships.
• You can pat via the Parent Portal or guest fee payment link on RV website under Families

Alumni and former students 

Alumni and former students who need transcripts should visit Jeffco Student Records & Transcripts.

Initial vs. midyear vs. final transcripts

Your first transcript request in Naviance is considered your initial request. Once you have submitted an initial transcript request, your midyear transcript (with your first semester grades) will be automatically sent to the postsecondary institution. There is no additional fee for midyear transcripts.

Your final official transcript can be sent to only ONE institution, which you will indicate on the Jeffco Senior Exit Survey (required to be completed by all seniors in May). If you need your transcript send to additional institutions, please visit Jeffco Student Records & Transcripts.

Similar to official transcripts, many postsecondary institutions allow or require letters of recommendation from students' teachers to gain insight into their character, work ethic, classroom contributions, and other elements beyond what their grades show.

Requesting letters of requires three steps to be completed in this order:

Step 1: In Naviance, complete Letter of Recommendation Form

• In the upper right corner, click on the blue circle that has your initials
• Select "Surveys from Your School" from the dropdown menu
• Find *Letter of Recommendation Form
• Complete as many questions as you feel are relevant

Step 2: In person, ask your teacher if they’d be willing to write you a letter of rec

Step 3: Once you’ve talked with your teacher, in Naviance, send LOR request

• Click "Colleges" on the toolbar
• Select "Letters of Recommendation" from the drop-down menu
• Click "Add Request"
• Select a teacher
• Select which colleges you want their letter send to (pay attention to min/max)
• Submit request 

Letter of Rec Reminders

If you're applying to any schools via the Common App, make sure: 

• You've matched your Common App with Naviance
• All of the schools you're requesting a letter for (Common App or not) are listed in Naviance

If there is an error with your colleges listed, there will be delays in your teacher sending your letter. Teachers will submit their letters directly to colleges and it is your responsibility to make sure they have been sent.

Note: Naviance does not allow you to request recommenders outside of RVHS. The Common App does (instructions). Please contact your counselor if you have any other questions about one of your recommenders.

College Rep Visits at RV

College admissions representatives visit RV in the fall and spring to provide students with valuable insights about their institution. This may include but is not limited to: academic programs, campus life, scholarships, and admissions requirements.

Attending a session allows students to ask personalized questions, build connections with the college, and demonstrate interest, which can be a factor in the admissions process. It’s a great opportunity to explore schools you're interested in without leaving your campus.

Visits Calendar & Registering in Naviance

To see our college visits calendar, go to Naviance > Colleges Tab > College Visits from the dropdown. To register for a visit, click the blue "Register Now" button. It is highly recommended that you register in advance. Your registration confirmation can serve as your pass out of class and it allows the representative to easily document your attendance.

College Fairs

The Counseling Department will share via the Mustang News any upcoming local college fairs. In these environments, students can meet representatives from numerous colleges and universities in one location, offering students the chance to explore a wide range of schools in a single visit. Not only can students learn more about colleges they're interested in, they might also discover other prospective schools originally not on their list. 

For students entering their first year of college, the NCAA and NAIA eligibility centers require an official, final high school transcript. They may also ask for transcripts before graduation that include any completed coursework and in-progress courses. Transcripts must be sent directly from the school to the NCAA or NAIA eligibility centers from the RV Counseling Office.

You can request that your transcript be sent to the NCAA or NAIA the same way you do for colleges. Click on the dropdown for Transcripts on this page for step-by-step instructions. The NCAA or NAIA eligibility center is the "college" you will select in Naviance.
