Graduation Requirements

Colorado and Jeffco Public Schools are committed to educating students so they enter the workforce with in-demand skills that meet business, industry and higher education standards. According to the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), jobs that require training beyond high school are growing three times as fast as those that don't require training.

The graduating class of 2022 and beyond must meet or exceed the following requirements:

• Complete a minimum of 23 credit hours in required courses and
• Demonstrate Postsecondary Workforce Readiness (PWR) for at least one measure in reading, writing and communicating; and one measure in mathematics.

To be considered a candidate for an Honors Diploma, students must have earned at least a 3.6 weighted cumulative grade point average for their high school career and meet the additional following requirements:

• 18 academic credits during grades 9-12 (academic credits are those taken in English, mathematics, science, social studies, world languages and any AP courses).
• Completion of four credits in honors and AP courses. A minimum of two credits must be Advanced Placement courses with the AP exam for those courses completed.
• Earn a “C” or better in all courses, including Senior Seminar.
• Follow the RVHS Honor Code.
• The AP exam must be taken for each AP course enrolled in to remain eligible to be awarded an Honors Diploma.

To be a Distinguished Graduate, students must have one of the top 10 weighted grade point averages in the graduating class.

The student completing the requirements for an Honors Diploma who has the highest unweighted cumulative grade point average will be recognized as the valedictorian of Ralston Valley High School.

The student who has the second highest unweighted cumulative grade point average, rounded to the hundredth place, will be recognized as the salutatorian. In case of ties, multiple awards will be given.
