RVHS 1:1 Chromebooks

As part of Jeffco's TechforEd Initiative, all students in 9th grade will receive a Chromebook to use for educational purposes during their 4 years at RVHS. Families will pay an annual $50 fee which covers the device, a protective case, staff support, tech support, digital learning tools, teacher professional learning, internet filtering, bandwidth, and community resources.

Excellence in education requires that technology is seamlessly integrated throughout the educational curricula. Increasing access to technology enriches the curriculum and empowers students to maximize their full potential and prepares them for college and the workplace. RVHS is committed to providing students with expanded and flexible learning opportunities that prepare them to thrive in a digitally connected world. 

Each year, Jeffco re-negotiates contracts with our vendors to ensure proper use of taxpayer dollars. All incoming students in the same graduating class will receive the same Chromebook model as their class peers; however, there may be different models from one graduating class to another (see below). Chromebooks will come with a district-provided protective case.

1. Classroom Management & Student Safety - School Chromebooks provide home and school web-filtering and offer teachers and parents tools to monitor students activity. Parents can use Securly to receive daily or weekly synopsis of student activity and block specific websites. Teachers can use similar software to monitor student screens, temporarily freeze screens, and quickly distribute resources & links directly to student Chromebooks. 

2. Equity and device speed -Since students will be accessing the internet with a district owned device the speed will vastly improve and all students will have equal access to vital tools for learning. Students keep the Chromebook over school breaks, providing increased access for learning.

6. Compatibility with standardized assessments - State-mandated online tests can be taken on a school-managed Chromebook but not on most personal devices.
