Health & Safety

Message from the Principal (sent via email on 7/31/20)

I would like to first begin by thanking you for your continued patience as we have worked to develop our learning models. As stated in my last communication, we believe we have created a schedule (six class period offerings/three per day) that will allow our students to take a full course load, receive their graduation requirements, and also maintain health and safety guidelines.

Although the asynchronous model (not a set bell schedule, students log in to classes at their convenience) utilized at the end of last year supported flexibility for our students, we heard loud and clear from our community and teachers that a synchronous model (students log on and learn on a set schedule) is more effective. We agree!  Our students need learning opportunities, regardless of remote or hybrid, that allow them to not only connect face-to-face with their teachers, but to also connect with their peers. Synchronous learning also allows for timely feedback, collaboration, and questions regarding content to be answered immediately!

Before you make your decision regarding which learning model works best for your family, please take a moment to watch this video around a day in the life of a Jeffco high school student and visit our FAQ page.  We have also outlined additional steps all high schools are taking to keep our students and staff safe. We understand that the decision might be difficult, but please know that once your option is selected, your student(s) will remain in that learning model for the entirety of the fall semester.

Finally, we apologize if you have already indicated your learning model preference, but with the recent decision to move to hybrid learning environments for Jeffco students in grades 6-12 this fall, the district parent preference form that was sent on July 8th now only applies to students in grades PK-5. Therefore, we are asking that you complete this learning preference form from our school to account for these changes, even if you completed the district form during this last month.  We are asking that you complete the form by August 7th, so we can create your child’s class schedule before the start of the school year.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding as we have worked to develop viable schedules for the upcoming school year. Please know that we are very excited to reconnect with our RV students and families! (Click here to access schedules)
